Giornate Italiane: Enhanced and Updated OER for Italian

Category:

Project Description:

The Giornate Italiane project is open educational resource (OER) that proposes at-home and in-class activities to help gain a comprehensive understanding of Italian language and culture.

Giornate Italiane is divided into two parts: Units 1-6 cover beginners’ skills in Italian, the Intermezzo serves as a review between unites, and Units 7-11 cover intermediate skills. The approach to this resource is to put communicative skills at the forefront of the language learning experience, allowing students the ability to ‘play’ with language while learning the valuable skills that comprise our understanding and ability to participate in realistic scenarios.

The plan to continue this project is straightforward: through the creation and adaptation of A/V resources, the current Pressbook OER project will create better opportunities for the comprehension of spontaneous spoken Italian through interviews with thematic connections to the units we have already created.

At the end of the project, we will have a completed (and sustainable) Pressbook that includes teaching materials, A/V resources, assessments, and at-home learning materials.
